Toni Jade

Main Photographer

I’ve always lived my life to the fullest and in the moment… joyfully, energetically, spontaneously and creatively. Taking pictures has always been my way of capturing and sharing my zest for life.

I’m originally from South Africa and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography then launched Toni Jade Photography.

While in South Africa I was given the prestigious opportunity to be chosen as President Nelson Mandela’s Official Family Photographer. During my three years in this role, I photographed his 90th Birthday Celebration as well as two of his granddaughters weddings.

In 2009 I moved Toni Jade Photography to bustling New York and then to beautiful sunny Florida. I now split my time between the two, during the winter I am down in Florida and then the summer back to New York.

My camera is my window into your world and I love using it to show you all the beauty I see. Because you your fiance and your love is beautiful and deserves to be captured forever.

My accent will make you realize that I’m not originally from America. I’m from the faraway shores of South Africa where I studied Visual Communication at the University of Johannesburg.

I’m always super busy. Life is my passion and I live every moment to the max! I love horses, road tripping, discovering new landscapes and relaxing with friends over a good cup of coffee.

Started out in Vermont with aerial photography 23 years ago. Soon gained interest in weddings and went full-time in 2010, quitting a career in aviation after moving to Miami, FL in 2008. I enjoy physical fitness and live each day to try and be better than the last in some way.

The thing I love most about photography is the challenges of thinking fast in dynamic situations to create images that most people would never have thought possible. It’s the “stress” of a wedding / event that pushes me to always be sharp and to keep looking for unique opportunities within what is often a very tricky situation as it relates to photography. Getting beautiful results in these situations is what makes me smile and take pride in what I do as a professional photographer.

If I dig deep enough into family photo albums, you’ll find me with the camera in my hand. That basically sums up on my passion for photography and when it started. With my dad taking photography classes on the side, and getting a camera for the first time, my interest in photography increased when one day I stumbled across a documentary, called “Rock Prophecies” You see, my number one passion is family, then Photography , and then music. It was about Robert Knight, a professional concert photographer that changed my life and it lit up a fire inside me to pick up the camera and go for it professionally. I relentlessly went through YouTube videos and started to attend workshops and then one day, a friend of mine asked me to photograph her wedding. I was very nervous, but very excited as well. That night when I got home, I realized I was hooked. I wanted to be a wedding photographer.

To say that I still cry at weddings is a cliché, but I do. I still get emotional when I see a father and daughter dance or when I see grandparents or great grandparents that are blessed enough to be alive to see the bride and groom walk down the aisle. I love family events, I love family traditions, and I love documenting them. My style leans me towards documentary because I like to tell a story, but of course poses are included as well. Both aspects complete the story. If you ever want to see the documentary that changed my life, no worries. I bought like 10 DVDs, and when I start talking about it, people are curious and because it’s no longer in circulation I’ll break out my drawer take out that box and hand you the DVD. Heck, if your laptop or computer, no longer reads DVDs, I’ll even lend you my adapter so that you could watch it on your laptop.

Once Theodore Roosevelt said a famous quote, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." As a Brazilian, I only understood the part about carrying a big stick, and now I carry a Big Stick of light.

I am a determined person who is passionate about challenges, and I always seek to learn and explore new experiences. I have a background in Graphic Design, which gave me the opportunity to learn a bit about photography at university.

 
I am passionate about wildlife photography and would love to travel the world capturing diverse places and animals. I continue exploring new learning opportunities and dedicate myself to personal art projects using Recyclable Materials.
 
My journey is a testament to the fact that determination and passion can achieve great things and leave a positive legacy for this world.

I first started photography as a hobby, taking photos occasionally with my phone for fun. One day I was driving to Miami Beach and saw the most breathtaking portrait photo advertising a designer brand and I thought to myself “how do I make my photos look like that?” I bought my first professional camera soon after that. My love for photography grew exponentially as I took my time learning techniques to produce the most beautiful photographs. A fun fact about me is that I have a major sweet tooth and love making fried Oreos and ice cream after a shoot!

Videographer

I’ve always believed that you need to find your passion and then that will be your gift to the world. Allowing me the opportunity to film you and your fiance is your gift to me. You being able to relive these special moments in your life is my passion and gift to you.

I studied video production at The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. My professional training and extensive years of experience allows me to give you a classic, timeless and beautiful video.

My family is everything to me and when I’m not at an event we spend as much time hanging out with each other and savoring our family time together.

A coffee lover and relentless collector of moments in motion. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia and every day inspired by my wonderful son.

I speak Spanish, and English fluently, moved to South Florida in 2003. My love for Video production began with a fascination on how the camera could capture a piece of time and space that could later be used to share stories. After the purchase of my first video camera I quickly became immersed in the world of videography, this enthusiasm along with many years of experience made me into the videographer I am today.

I’ve always loved being able to express myself creatively through photographs. It also gives me the opportunity to capture unique moments and share my passion and perspective.

I’m born a Texan but raised a Floridian. It was about 6 years ago that I first picked up a camera and realized that I belonged behind the lens. Now I’m currently studying photography and video production to refine my technical skills even further.

On my downtime I love to go fishing and then taking my catch to a new restaurant to have them cook it up for an evening feast.

Finance, Marketing and Operations

Being surrounded by photographers all the time has unfortunately had very little impact on my photography skills, to be honest though, I only use the camera on my phone. I’m the voice of logic and reason behind the chaos and creativity of the team of photographers!

I’m originally from South Africa where I received a Bachelors Degree and an Honors Degree in Accounting before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CPA equivalent). I then received my Juris Doctor (J.D. or LLB) from the University of South Africa.

When I’m not working on putting systems in place in the Studio and making sure everything is running smoothly you can find me playing with my two girls or sneaking off somewhere quiet to try and read a book.

Our Style

Our Signature Photography Style can be Described as Traditional with a Creative Flare

We incorporate advanced camera, flash and off camera lighting techniques to create photographs that are high definition, crisp, vibrant, clean and realistic. Skin tones are accurate and the scenes natural colors create a beautiful and timeless photograph. Our editing techniques enhance the natural beauty of the photo and aren’t heavily processed in Photoshop.

Your wedding/mitzvah is about you, the people who have come to celebrate with you and the small details that make this a memorable and magical occasion.

This is what we focus on.

Each stage requires a different photography approach and we do whatever it takes to get the shot!

At the beginning of the day we combine Traditional Photography with Fine-Art Photography.

Traditional Photography typically has quite a bit of Photographer involvement and involves more poses and guidance. Fine-Art Photography involves using artistic angles and creative lighting to create photographs that have that creative flare.

The photographer is actually the person you will be spending the most time with on your special day. The Photographer is seen almost as a type of coordinator and assists in guiding and directing during the ceremony.

For the wedding ceremony and religious portion of the Mitzvah we combine traditional photography with Fine-Art photography

We will always make sure to give you as much direction as you need to create natural and comfortable poses that allow your personalities to shine. This has an approachable feel and a relaxed result.

Our combination of Traditional and Fine-Art Photography creates photographs that will stand the test of time- striking and gorgeous whilst both formal and relaxed with a sprinkle of spontaneity.

We believe that Weddings and Mitzvahs are about the friends and family and loved ones who come to celebrate with you on your special day. To ensure that we celebrate this, we dedicate time to capturing both the traditional photographs and the more candid ones.

As the day and celebration progresses we start to take more of a Photo-Journalistic approach. This is where your Photographer allows all of the moments to unfold around them while we naturally use our creative eye to interpret those moments though our photography. This requires being in the right place at the right time and anticipating these moments of emotion.

The majority of the time, the photographs you see online and on social media are actually taken not by Toni Jade but by one of our talented Professional Photographers.

The fact that you can’t tell the difference between a photograph taken by Toni and a member of our team is testament to rigorous training and stringent quality controls.

All our photographers are personally trained by Toni Jade in her signature style and lighting techniques and are required to meet certain requirements before we will move them up to the next level. Toni is very hands on an insists on being involved with every client and personally manages and oversees every single job. This is how we maintain such exceptionally high standards and a prestigious reputation for our studio.
